A reliable all rounder - clear display & timely notifications
The band display is nice and clear and these are nice and reliable for notifications so I'm a fan. The fit is good too for any wrist size.Pro tip: to get a custom background image - open the mi fitness app and go into band display, select the All category option and scroll down to Custom and there you can select a style then tap Edit and select background to set a custom background. (This is what the menu looks like on the iPhone app - Android app is likely easier to navigate).Another pro tip I recommend activating: in the settings options on the band itself, turn on the palm to turn off option and easily turn off the band display off at any time by pressing your palm down on it.

Brilliant watch and tracker ( sleep and steps)
Absolutely brilliant. I honestly bought it to keep track of my son 's sleep but he loves tracking his steps with it. Brilliant battery he wore it day and night for nearly a week before it run out of battery. Also not too big as a watch and can deactivate calls via the app ( like for school) although been off on holiday so not be tested if secondary school allow them . Easy to set up via the appMy son and I are very satisfied .

Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Fitness Tracker, Great But With Issues
Needed a new smart watch for tracking purposes. To start this is a very well made & solid watch. Set up is easy & charging is quick & with a long lasting charge. I won't go into major detail on this product as there are plenty of reviews & info provided. I really like this watch & it seems very accurate. As you see I give it only 4 stars & this is simply because this watch is fitted with the worst strap I've had on a watch. With a stupid rubber stud push into hole combination it's very fiddly & annoying to do up. I've twice had it come undone & fall off while out walking (nearly loosing it once). A let down for a very good watch.

On the Gifting of a Wrist-Band Wise and Fair
This band of craft from Xiaomi was given in love, a gift for one held dear. I have worn its kind before, a wise band of old, which served me well nigh four winters long. This new one is greater in screen, bold of look and bright in light. It seemeth strong of make, and if the past speak true, it shall endure. I hold it in good worth.I bid thee—buy it, for it is a gift both fair and faithful.

Useless in summer, turns off in hot weather
Well, it WAS a fine, probably four or five star watch until yesterday, when it simply went to sleep. A glitch, I thought, and plugged in the charger cable. It woke up, all was fine. Today, the same thing. A quick google reveals this is not a bug but a feature: the makers think it's a good idea for it to shut down above a certain temperature and then NOT WAKE UP UNLESS YOU PLUG IT INTO THE POWER CABLE. It is a hardly sizzling 20C here, so this is going to make it virtually unusable all summer. Remember to take the cable on holiday with you, regardless of the good battery life, and if it decides it's a bit toasty on a hike, you're getting out your phone to check the time. Terrible idea.

Postives and Negatives
I've had Fitbits for years, but since Google took over, haven't been happy with them, so when my last one died, I looked for an alternative. I think Fitbits are overpriced in order to offer "free" Premium, which I have no interest in, so I looked for a budget one. The reviews for this one were good, so I got it. So far, I haven't really explored all that it can do, but I have found positives and negatives.Positives - app easy to download, I really lke the face and the battery live is amazing. When I get round to exploring further, it looks as if it is capable of doing all or most of what Fitbit could do.Negatives - I REALLY dislike the actual band. Most days, I really struggle to fix it to my wrist and I have no confidence in it, so I use an elastic band for extra security. I see that other bands are available, so once I have decided to stick with this, I will probably try to change it for something easier. Also, distances are not very accurate. I did Race for Life 10 kms the other day and this recorded 11.67 kms. I'm not sure Fitbit was that accurate either but I was able to calibrate it by changing my height to adjust step length. I'm not sure you can do anything like that with this one. It may be that the GPS on my phone (which the band uses) is not that great. I can live with it, but if accuracy of distance is critical to you, you probably need a band with its own GPS.
