I chiefly bought this to use as a heat diffuser, since my oven runs on propane, not natural gas. Propane runs much, much hotter than natural gas, so I need diffusers to keep from burning things.I liked this one because it says it's "iron," in the product description. When it came in, I could tell by the weight that it is not iron. When you scroll down to the "product information" it says it's "stainless steel." It's enamel-coated whatever it is, but it's not iron. Unfortunately, because of that, it won't be useful for me under my cast iron pans because they weigh far too much for this little lightweight to handle.I've never made arepas, so that wasn't my main purpose in buying this, but since I have it, I guess I'll be making arepas in the future. As for heat diffusing, it will still work under my stainless steel pans.

I chose this to be able to heat up my tortillas on my flat top stove. In the past I've had to either heat up a large Skillet or place the tortillas directly on stove top. Neither of these options were preferable. This worked well on my flat top stove to heat tortilla. The size of it though works better with the small corn tortillas then the larger flour tortillas. I think the price might be a little high for the quality and usefulness of this item.I hope this review has been helpful
