Dog Anxiety Calming Wrap, X-Large, Aluminum

I am a vet tech and an animal welfare officer so have seen this type of shirt used in many cases. In comparison to the Thunder Shirt I rate this a 4 out of 5. This shirt is a lighter weight and doesn't cover as much of the dog as the thunder shirt does. That being said it works almost as well as the thunder shirt. It doesn't have a double belly velcro system like the thunder shirt. The thunder shirt gets secured on your dog and then you can tighten or loosen the second belly band as needed without the shirt coming completely undone. For most dogs this isn't an issue, just the ones that might be bouncing around or are nipping due to anxiety. I've used this type of shirt for relieving stress from car rides, vet visits fire works, distant gunfire and of course thunder storms. I have yet to not have the shirt work to some extent. Being lighter weight is advantageous in warmer climates and the over all effect is very close to a Thunder Shirt. I highly recommend this product.....and it comes in cool colors.

I have a four year old make English Bull Terrier who recently started to have general anxiety issues. He would just sit there and shake, never seemed relaxed, and getting him to eat was a chore. As soon as I put this on him he stretched out on the floor and for the first time in months just relaxed (pictured). It is wonderful having his old self back. I used to work at a pet store that sold the Thundershirt and to be honest I like this wrap better. The material is stretchier and softer. My guy is around 60lbs but is on the thinner side and could have done with a medium, but the large will work fine.

This shirt isn't thick enough to really provide any calming properties. It is essentially a t-shirt for dogs. In order to provide calming sensations the shirt would have to provide some pressure and this material is so thin that it cannot do that. I thought I was saving some money by going with an off-brand but I should have just paid the extra and gotten the actual Thunder Jacket for my pup, because that's what I ended up doing anyway.

I received the Mellow Shirt by the delivery date. It was delivered fast and packaging was fine. I have a 54lb pitbull and bought a Large. I chose the large by the weight recommendations and the fact that pitbulls are a lot wider in the chest than other breeds. I usually have to get a bigger size in shirts or collars to accommodate her chest and neck size. The pictures provided by the company do not give a good depiction of the velcro. This is another reason I went with the large. However, for those that have large chested or large neck dogs, you may want to go with the smaller size. The medium would have been best. The strap around my dogs neck was plenty long enough for her. But the strap that goes around her abdomen is almost too long. The Velcro is at its tightest fit and I would have preferred it to be a little snugger. This is the first time we are using such a product so "live and learn". I will keep this one and add a another strip of Velcro to tighten and to reinforce the small piece that is used for the abdomen. I don't really have time to exchange since the 4th of July is a couple days away. For the rest of the shirt (stretch, color, stitching, etc)...i am very pleased. This shirt is made of a very soft material that has a good amount of stretch. I guess we will see how well it retains its shape after a couple uses. I ordered the purple and it is exactly the same color as posted by the company. The stitching seems to be great as well. My only suggestion would be to have a wider piece of Velcro to fasten the abdominal strap. It is definitely on the thin side. I will be adding an extra piece to make sure it doesn't come undone when she plays and rolls on the carpet.I am looking forward to trying this product and seeing if this will help her. I really hope this works.....if so, she and the rest of the family will be very happy. I have my fingers crossed.

This vest has helped our dog tremendously. We adopted a chihuahua mix from the pound who likes to bark at any unfamiliar sound he hears (and even some familiar ones too). This vest calms him to the point that he doesn't bark every time a dog barks on tv. Is it a total problem solver? No, but every little bit helps and Little Lord Fauntleroy is very proud of his fancy duds.

We have used Thundershirts in the past, but thought we would give this a try. Very easy to put on. Fits like a glove on our doodle. We have only had this wrap a short while, but she seems to really like it. A Thundershirt definitely calmed our dog and it appears Mellow Shirt works too. A ThunderShirt has an additional flap that is really nice for adjusting for a snug fit and keeping everything secure and the fabric is nicer. But for the price, MellowShirt seems great.

Great shirt for anxious dogs. I looked at many different brands and this one was a good price with a good amount of reviews. When originally ordering this shirt I ordered a size small for a 17lb female daschund (weiner dog) and it was way to big. The small would have been a better fit for a shih tzu. I was able to easily exchange for a x small and the fit is perfect. An hour after putting it on the shaking and pacing around stopped.

5 star review!Just got this for a car trip we took yesterday. Our dog HATES the car. She shakes, drools, and often ends up throwing up (very pleasant). Our vet suggested trying one of these pressure wraps. Long story short…it worked! She laid down and practically slept for the entire trip. A first. And she seemed to like having it on. Thumbs way up!
