Dog Anxiety Calming Wrap, Large, Aluminum

We have one large dog that shakes if it hints of thunder. We got him a more expensive vest and it works. He other night the storms were shaking the house like an earthquake. Our normally brave other big dog was shaking in his boots. We got this less expensive vest and like it better. With the other vest there are 3 narrow velcro strips to match up on the chest strap. Somewhat difficult to do. This one has a single large velcro strip to match the 3 thin strips. So much easier. We got the large to fit our 82 pound dog and it fits great. If you have thunderstorms or celebrate with fireworks, I highly recommend you get this.

My dog is tops 10lbs. He rarely wears a small he could possibly have worn an extra small. But it is great . Very soft and nice fabric. Made well and the fact I can make it tighter is nice.

(update)We found a design flaw in this product. It still works, but we left the dog alone when we went out and when we got home the dog had removed the shirt. The design flaw is that there isn't enough Velcro and the flap around the chest goes up and doesn't have a protective cover (like in the Thunder Shirt/Vest). It is still a product that works, but because our dog has figured out how to get it off we are going to have to return it. We need something that will stay on.We were given a Thunder Shirt for our dog after a friend lost their dog to cancer. We had told them our dog had a problem with fireworks and thunder. They told us that their dog had the same problem, so they gave the shirt to us to use. We noticed a big difference in our dog during storms and loud events.I told my mom about the shirt and she wanted one for her adopted dog, which the dog had serious sensory issues. It was always nervous and we had to keep it on drugs to subdue it. When we took it to the vet, we had to muzzle it because it would bite the vet.Today, about an hour ago, I took the Mellow Shirt over to my mom's. I put it on the dog and instantly, the dog's disposition changed. I mean, it was like flicking a light switch off. It was that quick.The dog would never go up to my mom, it always ran away from her. Now it will approach her, even with her in the motorized chair which the dog dislikes. It follows her around the house and will not leave her side.

Easy to put on our dog when the first storm arrived and it made a big difference. With each subsequent storm the effectiveness diminished. Thinking about trying one with more weight to it before asking the vet for anti-anxiety meds.

I'm going to admit it publicly: I hate the Fourth of July. Where I live, it is like Armageddon, there are so many illegal fireworks.Anyway, my dogs don't like it either. Last year, I called my vet to get a sedative for my dog and she recommended turning on a fan to drown out the noise instead.This year, I'm turning to CBD and this shirt and so far, so good. My dog has no reluctance about wearing the shirt. It's lightweight. The velcro seems adequate. It's made of t-shirt material and while being a little thinner than expected, it's holding up fine. Does it make my dog less nervous? I don't know but it can't hurt. She seems a little less stressed out but right now, we're in the overture of the Fourth. We'll have to see how she reacts when we are under sustained assault.

My girl Minerva is afraid of thunderstorms. So I got her this cheaper thundershirt so try out with her. Starting May 9th, today is may 23, we worked to get her used to the shirt with treats and letting her sleep with her shirt like a bed and let it collect her smell. We also got her a muzzle with a slow feeder as she never has had anything like this done before and is an angry old dog. It was a miracle of sorts.We had a really bad thunderstorm last night. So we thought it was the perfect time to test the shirt out.She didn’t hate us afterwords. She didn’t fight to get it off. She did try to shake it off but she didn’t sit there and try to scratch it off. So that’s a win. She was still reactive to loud thunder but the way she reacted changed. She was no longer jumping frantically and like growling at the thunder. She still barked but it was calmer not calm. When it did scare her it was really easy to like redirect her focus and help her calm down. So I think this was a win especially for a like 14 human year old dog who doesn’t let anyone man handle her. Thank you.

Velcro is coming off of the fabric after 2 uses.

We got these for a Road trip. We used them the first day. Both of my dogs have short coats and these were just too loose to apply any sort of compression. I think if I had sized down I would have rated them higher. Follow the chart and then size down for short coated dogs.

Perfect for the summer since it’s made of a thinner then the thundershirt witch is made of a thicker material witch can be too hot for the summer but good for the winter. Helps keep my little morkie calm when he’s stressed:3

It did not reduce the stress levels of our dog during storms at all
