Great protection
These gloves are slightly on the big side of the sizing. I bought a small size and they are a wee bit big (possibly a gents small hand ?) - not terrible but worth noting. They are comfortable, soft and lovely to wear and the long cuff comes up to my elbow - which is exactly the protection I wanted. I have used them for spring pruning some shrubs and it saves me getting the usual itchy arms from them. They will be great when I tackle the roses.

Ideal for cutting prickly hedges!
These gloves are a godsend if you have roses or a prickly hedge to prune, protecting both hands and forearms from the worst of thorns! Comfortable to wear, the gloves are supple enough for you to use secateurs or pruners with ease. We made, they should last for many years.

Great protection
These long gauntlets are exactly what I was looking for. They are well made and, coming up to the elbow, do protect against thorn scratches from rose pruning etc.Following other reviews I did order a size less than my normal glove size and found that in doing that the fit was perfect - usual size would have been too big.Can recommend these.

Perfect for getting rid of thorny bushes
Amazing 12ft square of blackberry bushes removed, no thorns went through, you could bend the branches, and no more cuts on the arms, very comfortable and easy to use the garden tools with them on

Safe from brambles and thorns in these.
Bought these for clearing a back garden full of brambles and untouched for 20 years. These undoubtedly saved my hands and forearms many times. Unreservedly recommend.

Great for re-potting a large cactus
I bought these to move a cactus into another better pot, they were excellent. Also great for any pyracantha, holly and raspberry pruning.

Still too big
Although sold as small they're pretty big! They fit my husband perfectly but unfortunately they were for me. I buy small rubber gloves for household chores and these are much bigger. I'd say they at least a medium and the very stiff arm part pushes them off your hands further although they should soften with wear. It's a shame they don't offer the smaller sizes on their chart.

Perfect for roses
The quality is excellent and they are great for pruning roses. The sizing was bang on.

Hole in fingertip after 3 wearings
I purchased these gloves to do yard work. I waited almost 4 weeks for them to be delivered. I received them May 17, 2018 and wore them over the May long weekend. By Sunday there was already a hole in the finger tip of the glove. For the price I thought I would have years of wear.

Amazingly tough yet soft with excellent arm protection
Quality is great! Used them for the first time right after being delivered to cut back some 6+ft rose bushes that were in dire need of a trimming. Previously tried using my well padded leather ski gloves which worked okay but the thorns would easy puncture that soft leather and didn't go nearly as high as I needed.Immediately noticed how well the gauntlet protection went up the arm. If nothing else this is the single greatest feature. Fit was a little tight, but I caulk it up to these gloves may have been designed for a woman's hand. They fit snug and if I wasn't wearing a thinner spring type coat I suspect the cuffs going up wouldn't have been quite so tight. The leather is super soft which made me nervous at first but seriously my hands were well protected after two hours of truely testing them out.I did get about 2 small pokes through the gloves. I must have cut enough to create a new 6ft x 4ft bush. Even at the end when I was getting real careless and rough pulling out branches my hands barely felt anything but sill had excellent dexterity.I wouldn't hesitate recommending these to anyone else. If you have huge hands they may not fit comfortably. I have medium sized men's hands and they worked.

Soft, thick sturdy leather, very functional
I wasn't cutting roses, tho I can see that the gloves would work well for that too. I was digging holes in dirt-- long story involving bamboo that spread! My old regular leather gloves kept getting dirt/small rocks caught inside, which was most irritating to the fingers. These have been perfect. I can kneel, and rest myself on one forearm on the ground, and reach down to dig deep in holes and pull out the dirt around the rhizomes without having it fall into the gloves. The leather is soft and flexible, but NOT thin like they won't last. My hands are medium size. I wear medium hospital gloves, (6.5 in the old latex surgical gloves, and 7 in the newer non-latex gloves). My fingers are a bit on the short side, but with larger palms than some of my similarly sized female friends. So standard leather gloves often have fingers that are too long for me. This pair of gloves seemed standard, but the leather is soft enough that I don't notice that extra length in the fingers. They are not at all snug on my hands, so a guy with bigger hands would fit. I don't know how a very small woman would feel in them. I am 5'8".
